Founded in 1952, Carel, renowned for its expertise in footwear and leather goods, distinguished itself in the 1980s through collaborations with Jean Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler. Now headed by Frédérique Picard, it supports emerging designers with distinctive styles, notably collaborating with Charles de Vilmorin, Alphonse Maitrepierre, and currently with David Méndez Alonso, the creator of the Outsider Division.
What if time wasn't linear? What if generations could communicate through clothing, blending memories and imagination? From this idea was born the collaboration between the French fashion house Carel and the Spanish brand Outsiders Division: a meeting between the playful elegance of the Parisian woman and the colorful and narrative world of Barcelona.
A BOLD COLLABORATION BETWEEN 2 CREATIVE UNIVERSES
Together, they envisioned a capsule collection where ages blend seamlessly. Inspired by school uniforms and bourgeois classics—pleated skirts, tweeds, pumps—this preppy-punk wardrobe brings together styles and generations. Grandchildren borrow their grandparents' coats, and the grandparents embrace the boldness of a free-spirited youth.
At Carel, where shoes have been a field of joyful and feminine expression for 73 years, this intergenerational game naturally resonates with the DNA of the house: free, mischievous, assertive.
More than a collection, Carel x Outsiders Division questions our relationship to time and celebrates fashion as a space of freedom, curiosity and transmission.
Founded by David Méndez Alonso in 2012, Outsiders Division champions playful, colorful, and unconventional fashion. Designed for dreamers and free spirits, the brand promotes individuality over uniformity and transforms clothing into a manifesto of independence and emotion.
The collection will be released at the end of February 2026.
