The Carel Cares collection, launched in 2020, embodies our values of sustainability and intergenerational responsibility. In addition to our traditional leather products, you will find environmentally friendly models, made from alternative materials, limited edition upcycled leather, or entirely made in France.

Since 1952, we have been committed to responsible management of our creative process, ensuring quality and exceptional savoir-faire. Our long-standing partnerships between our team and our workshops have consolidated our expertise and established lasting relationships of trust.

Our production, 100% European and mainly Italian, is designed in Paris and carried out responsibly to limit overproduction and optimize our resources. We favor road transport to our warehouse in Paris to reduce our carbon footprint.

Because we want to limit waste, we recover production scraps and other forgotten leather from workshops to give them a new life in the form of very limited series.

Upcycling allows us to repurpose a product that was destined to be thrown away.

That's why we partner with Parisian showrooms that unearth dormant stock from luxury brands and deliver it to us with all the necessary traceability information.

This is how we can offer our customers exclusive capsules, made from premium leather.

Appleskin

We also offer models in Appleskin®, an innovative material made from 25% apple pulp from the food industry. With its smooth texture close to traditional leather, it is the perfect alternative to offer a range of shoes and leather goods made without leather.

We are committed to more responsible fashion. In order to reduce our CO2 emissions as much as possible and to promote French savoir-faire, we are developing partnerships with
Living Heritage artisans and businesses. Our 100% made in France tote bag is created with a partner who practices traditional Jacquard weaving. They are woven from organic linen or recycled cotton fibers.
Since 2020, our espadrilles have been made by a traditional workshop based in the Basque Country.

  • Scoubidou bag

Scoubidou bags are pieces handmade by widowed Indian women, part of a social micro-industry fighting against the isolation of women in India.

Made from 100% recycled plastic fibers, making a bag takes two days of work.

We are happy to have been able to be part of this lasting partnership, helping to offer Indian garment makers a stable salary.

  • People Relief

In December 2023 and again in March 2024, Carel wanted to get involved with Secours Populaire Français to support women in reintegration.

Always committed to women, Carel donated over 600 pairs of shoes to the association to help women.

At Carel, we are driven by the ambition to constantly innovate and progress.
We fully integrate eco-responsibility into our creative process and involve our teams, partners and clients to make our house yours, guided by proximity and
promotion of local crafts.

Yakoborina Collective

In November 2022, Carel was a sponsor of the solidarity fashion show organized by the Yakoborina collective at La Caserne, the largest accelerator of ecological transition in the fashion and luxury sector in Europe!

We are very proud to have been able to support several major brands in this process.

Good Act

In 2024, Carel is going further by having plantable cards manufactured by the French company Good ACT.

With the aim of reducing our environmental impact, this card is 100% biodegradable. Once planted in a green space or flowerpot, it will produce a mix of flowers. A lovely way to thank you for your loyalty.
